3 Ingredient Chocolate Truffles Recipe
These 3 ingredient chocolate truffles are quick and easy to prepare, and make an impressive, indulgent treat to enjoy all year around – but especially for special occasions such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day or a romantic date night.
I find making truffles following this method is the easiest way to create uniform sized truffles, without the need to roll them. Instead, they are simply cut into little bite sized square truffles that make the perfectly rich, decadent treat.
How To Make The Easy Dessert Recipe
Start by gathering the 3 simple ingredients for the easy recipe:
- 250g/8.8oz Dark Chocolate
- 3/4 Cup Cream
- 1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter
Chop up the dark chocolate and place it into a heatproof bowl, so that it will be ready and waiting for you once you have your heated cream. I’ve used 70% dark chocolate, but you can feel free to swap for a more milkier chocolate if you’d prefer.
Next, pour the heavy cream into a small saucepan and add the butter, then place it on the stove top over low to medium heat and heat until the butter has melted and the creamy just starts to simmer.
For the cream you can use any cream you’d like, including heavy whipping cream, heavy cream, double cream or pouring cream. I’ve also successfully made this recipe with canned coconut milk instead and skipped the butter, which is perfect if you don’t have cream to hand or want to make dairy free truffles.
As soon as the cream starts bubbling, remove it from the heat and pour over the bowl of chopped chocolate. Allow it to sit for a minute to start melting, then stir until fully melted and combined together.
Allow to cool slightly to room temperature, then move the chocolate truffle mixture to an airtight container that’s lined with well greased baking paper and place into the fridge for at least 4 hours to set.
Once the truffles have set, cut into bite sized pieces and enjoy, storing leftovers in the fridge to enjoy within a couple of days.
There are lots of ways to flavor the homemade truffles, you can make them sweeter by adding in a few tablespoons of sugar or your sweetness of choice, or enhance the flavor by adding a pinch of salt, vanilla extract or your flavoring of choice.
