2 Ingredient Apple Chocolate Mousse Recipe – How to make the quick easy and indulgent viral chocolate mousse with apples dessert – with the video tutorial.
2 Ingredient Apple Chocolate Mousse
I’ve been seeing this 2 ingredient apple chocolate mousse going viral on social media, so I thought I’d give it a try to see how you can make a chocolate mousse with only 2 ingredients. (For more apple dessert inspiration, here’s an easy apple muffins recipe for you.)
The original recipe has the apples and chocolate cooked separately before being blended together. I prefer to minimise on dishes, equipment used and washing up – so I cooked everything together in one pot.
You may prefer the method of cooking the apples to a puree, melting the chocolate separately and then blending together until smooth and creamy in a blender or mixer, or the lazier method that I follow that still creates a decadent dessert, it’s just not quite as smooth and creamy as the original viral dessert.
How To Make 2 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse
To make the easy recipe you only need the following 2 ingredients:
- 100g/3.5oz Chocolate
- 2 Apples
Start by preparing the chocolate by chopping it into small pieces, you could of course use chocolate chips instead, which means skipping the chopping activity.
You can use any chocolate you’d like in the simple recipe, I’ve used 70% dark chocolate because we prefer dark chocolate desserts.
If you’d like to make a dairy free chocolate mousse then just make sure that the chocolate that you include is dairy free, which dark chocolate often is, just always check to be sure.
Then see to the apples by peeling, coring and chopping them into even sized small pieces.
Place the chopped apples into a small saucepan and on the stove over low to medium heat, cooking and keeping a close eye on the apples until the apples start to slowly break apart and become easily mashable.
Once the apples are soft, mash with a potato masher until smooth, then add in the chopped chocolate and give it all a final heat through until the chocolate has melted.
Remove the chocolate apple mixture from the stove top and pour it out into a serving bowl or individual ramekins.
Allow to cool to room temperature then place in the fridge for a few hours to set and enjoy your indulgent chocolate apple mousse by the decadent spoon full.
